About 8 years ago, Eric and Christoph met the cacao farmers of the Alto Huayabamba Valley through their previous jobs in the fair-trade chocolate industry. Their initial business relationship quickly turned into solid friendship, considering each other part of their families today. Together they decided to challenge the rules by which the chocolate industry plays. So Eric, Christoph and 36 organic cacao farmers from their two communities Pucallpillo and Santa Rosa joined hands and founded Choba Choba – a chocolate brand in which farmers no longer are mere raw material suppliers. Instead, they have a direct stake in the company and its success.
The Choba Choba farmers are co-owners of the chocolate brand. They don’t simply sell cacao anymore but bring their own chocolates directly to you. With Choba Choba you buy your chocolate just like your organic veggies at the local farmer’s market.
Furthermore, each chocolate you buy has a real impact on the farming families. 5% of the sales are allocated to Choba Choba’s Revolution Fund and transferred to the communities in direct payouts and in the form of shares, allowing the farmers to have an increasingly stronger voice in Choba Choba and to quickly gain majority in the company.
This creates a direct and magical connection between us and the creators of the chocolate. Not only has Choba Choba revolutionised the impact, they are also continuously growing and hoping to be creating more funds, opportunities where necessary. Join the revolution by sending them a word!
